Open-Source Electronic Medical Record Comparison

The systems being compared are listed below. For two of them (ePAS and GNU Health), there is a requirement to install the appropriate client for your computer before you can access the system.

There are 5 systems being compared in this exercise. They are:

Open EMR

OpenEMR is a Free and Open Source electronic health records and medical practice management application that can run on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and many other platforms. OpenEMR is ONC certified and is written in PHP. OpenEMR is supported by a strong community of volunteers and professionals all with the common goal of making OpenEMR a superior alternative to its proprietary counterparts. The OpenEMR community is dedicated to guarding OpenEMR's status as a free, open source software solution for medical practices and is dedicated to maintaining a spirit of openness, kindness and cooperation.

GNU Health

GNU Health is the Free Hospital and Health management application that is built on an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. This platform is actively used outside of the health care sector for various business processes like manufacturing, order processing, customer relationship management and financial accounting.

To access the system, you will need to download the appropriate Tryton client. The client is available for GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OSX from the Tryton website. The links have been provided below to make life a little bit easier.

Jamaica ePAS

Based on GNU Health version 2.8 and Tryton 3.4, this is the result of developments and consultations with folks from the Ministry of Health, and local healthcare facilities
